Journey into the deepest levels of relaxation and rejuvenation. Temple of the Moon is a lunar experience curated to support you slow down, soften and deeply rest held at Mother of the Woods Retreat, Co Down.

Under the grounded energy of the Virgo new moon, this evening of Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra invites you to slow down, soften and come back home to yourself. Through long-held Yin shapes, guided stillness and deep rest, we’ll create space to reset the nervous system, regain your ground and find your rhythm again as we move into Autumn. No previous experience needed. Come exactly as you are.

Yin Yoga & Nidra

The wisdom of Yin: Yin Yoga, a slower, more meditative style of yoga designed to support both body and nervous system. In a world that constantly asks us to push, perform, and keep moving, yin offers something radically different: space to pause. To breathe. To feel.

This session is perfect for complete beginners, anyone feeling burnt out or overstimulated, or those craving a more embodied and restorative way to move. Expect long-held shapes, nervous system support, guided stillness, and deep rest, all held within the grounded energy of Virgo New Moon.

Yin works with the wisdom of less. Less effort. Less achievement. Less trying to get somewhere. Instead, we cultivate presence. You’ll be invited to notice sensation, breath, resistance and ease. To explore the subtle places where you habitually hold. To practise meeting your body with curiosity rather than judgement. There is something profoundly restorative about being given permission to stop fixing, improving and pushing yourself. Yin teaches us to listen. And sometimes, when we listen deeply enough, we discover that the body has been telling us what we need all along.

The deep rest of Yoga Nidra: From the embodied stillness of Yin, we’ll journey into Yoga Nidra which is a full body relaxation process. Yoga Nidra means ‘yogic sleep’, but it is much more than simply lying down and relaxing.

Through a carefully guided practice of awareness, you’ll be invited to move progressively inward, releasing physical effort while remaining gently awake and present. You don’t need to concentrate. You don’t need to do it perfectly. You don’t even need to know how to meditate. You simply lie down, receive and allow yourself to be guided.

Yoga Nidra gives the body an opportunity to experience deep rest while offering the mind a different relationship with awareness, intention and thought. In that space, we can begin to reconnect with what has become obscured by the noise of everyday life.

The September New Moon

As the moon waxes and wanes, so do we. Temple of the Moon is a monthly gathering devoted to deep rest, remembrance and reconnection. Offering you gentle practices and seasonal ritual to soften the edges of modern life and return to the wisdom within.

We’ll gather beneath the grounded energy of the September New Moon in Virgo, a beautiful moment for returning to the foundations of our lives. Virgo brings us back to the everyday things that shape our wellbeing: our rhythms, our boundaries, our bodies, our rituals and the ways we tend to ourselves.

As we cross the threshold from Summer into Autumn, this is an opportunity to pause before the season gathers pace, to take stock, to notice what is nourishing you and to release some of what no longer needs to be carried.

Come and regain your ground

Think of this evening as a reset for your whole being. A chance to come out of your head and back into your body. To soften places that have been holding. To breathe more fully. To listen more deeply. To give your nervous system a break from the constant demands of doing. To reconnect with your own internal rhythm before Autumn really sets in.

You’ll leave with more than simply having had an evening off. You’ll have spent time inhabiting your body, cultivating awareness, practising deep rest and reconnecting with the part of you that knows when it is time to slow down.

This evening is suitable for complete beginners as well as experienced practitioners. No flexibility, fitness or previous yoga experience is required.

Come exactly as you are.

Bring your tired body.
Bring your busy mind.
Bring whatever this season has been asking of you.

And let yourself be held for a while.
