Cacao is a plant medicine that has been used for thousands of years for spiritual, medicinal and ceremonial purposes. It supports inner healing, awakening and connection to creative guidance and intuition.

Cacao is a superfood and is packed full of vitamins and minerals, supports the cardiovascular system and is a natural antioxidant and antidepressant.

Whoever you are, you are welcome to join, just as you are. There is no previous experience required. All you have to do is show up with openness (and a cup to drink from).

As you open into the deeper meaning and wisdom of the season nourish your own feminine energy through journalling, ritual, mediation and deep relaxation accompanied by live music and seasonal treats.

Winter Solstice (in the Northern Hemisphere) marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. Long before Christmas our ancient ancestors held vigil for the sun’s “death” and rebirth at Midwinter. After this point the days slowly begin to grow longer as the light returns.

On a deeper level, it is a time to celebrate the eternal cycle of life, death and rebirth and how that holds meaning and resonance in our own individual lives.

You might not know that the longest night was known in some traditions as Mōdraniht “ Mother Night”, and dedicate to celebrating the magic and power of the deep feminine. In fact many of the elements associated with Christmas have their origins in this ancient Goddess and feminine honouring festival. Evergreen trees, holly, mistletoe, the wreath, lighting candles, and even Santa Claus and his reindeer both have their origins in Northern European Sun Goddesses.

It was believed that on the longest night, the Goddess worked her magic to nurture the seeds laying dormant in the dark womb of Earth for new life to emerge in Spring. Making it a really powerful night to gather with other women and connect with your own feminine energy.

What is Cacao and why do we drink it?

Cacao is essentially chocolate in its rawest and purest form but with even more magic than your average chocolately fix. It is produced from the seed of the Theobroma Cacao tree. Cacao is fermented and cold pressed into a paste which allows it to keep its super potent properties and active ingredients that provide spiritual and emotional healing.

Cacao has has many proven health benefits including:

  • Natural antidepressant

  • Natural antioxidant

  • Reduces blood pressure

  • Improves cardiovascular health

  • Reduces stress

  • Promotes the production of beneficial neurotransmitters such as the happy hormone serotonin and the bliss molecule anandamide.

  • Improve cognitive performance

  • Enhances creativity

  • Improves stress management, mood and wellbeing

Emma only sources only the finest quality, ethically sourced Ceremonial grade Cacao. It is 100% artisan which means it has been hand harvested, picked and selected from heirloom trees of wild heritage. This ensures there is no over harvesting or damage to the trees, and that the local, indigenous communities are well paid for their crops. As it is prepared, the Cacao is infused ritualistically with blessings and top secret (all vegan!) ingredients for a spectacular taste and the ultimate full body-mind-spirit nourishment.

What is a Cacao Ceremony?

Cacao ceremonies have been around for thousands of years, dating back to the Mayan and Aztec traditions in Central and South America who used cacao in rituals for its spiritual and energetic healing properties and as a heart medicine.

In the ancient mythologies of these people, cacao was often said to be gifted from the heavens to the people and is known as ‘the food of the gods’.

In Emma’s cacao ceremonies you will sit in a circle with others either by candlelight or bonfire (depending on the seasons and the weather!) and be held with music, meditation and wisdom teachings. You will drink a cup of the most delicious cacao for the purpose of reflection, gaining clarity, intention setting and doing inner healing.

Emma is one of the most experienced Cacao facilitators in Ireland and her offerings are truly unique, sharing original medicine songs, ancestral music and mantra. Every Cacao Ceremony is different as they are guided by Emma’s depth of understanding of the cosmic alignments and cycles and rhythms of nature nature.

These healing ceremonies work with rebalancing energies in the body to regain holistic health. Unlike other shamanic experiences, drinking cacao will not make you hallucinate or give you an ‘out-of-body’ psychedelic experience. Cacao gently brings you back into your body and touches your heart.

It is a fun, uplifting experience in a safe and open community.
