a reusable period product made of soft, medical grade, vegan, silicone. For a toxic, BPA and phthalate free period that doesn’t cost the Earth.

The cup, when inserted correctly, collects your period blood without leaks for up to 12 hours and holds twice as much blood as a super size tampon, meaning you can leave them in for longer and with more comfort.

Each cup comes with an organic cotton, waterproof pouch for discretion and ease.

Our sustainability mission means meeting our period care needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs.

This is a reusable, eco-friendly and sustainable approach for an Earth friendly and zero waste period.

The Essential Nature Period Cup also helps to end period poverty and provides reproductive and menstrual health education for those who otherwise can't access it via Bloody Good Period

Making for a more affordable, less hassle and healthier period and planet.

  • Affordable

Buy once, use it for up to 12 years. It’s that simple. No more costly stocking up of pads and tampons. One cup costs the same as 5-6 months of disposable period products.

  • Eco Friendly

10 years usage saves approx 2,640 pads/tampons being dumped into landfill. Our packaging is sustainable and a tree is planted for every purchase. Period care shouldn’t cost the Earth.

  • Body Safe

100% medical grade silicone, our cups are non toxic, BPA, phthalate and dye free. Cups collect rather than absorb blood so you're at less risk of toxic shock syndrome and Vaginal PH and healthy bacteria are maintained.

  • Less Hassle

No leaks, no tampon strings or pads showing through your pants. Holds more than double a large tampon and can be worn for up to 12 hours of leak free protection, including when swimming, moving or sleeping.

How it works:

  • Fold and insert.

The cup forms a light suction seal, keeping it in place and leak free.

  • Wear for up to 12 hours.

When inserted correctly you shouldn’t be able to feel your cup.

  • Empty, rise, repeat.

    It’s that easy!

period science

The science:

During your period, the endometrium lining of your uterus is released, this is the blood you see.

The cervix is the base of the uterus and has a small passageway through which the blood and eggs of menstruation pass through. Some say it looks like a little doughnut.

The cervix sits at the top of the vaginal canal. It is not visible by eye as the vagina is roughly at a 45% angle.

The uterus and cervix naturally drop down within the pelvic bowl during menstruation.

Around 30% of people with vaginas have a tilted cervix meaning the positioning of the cervix is not directly at the top of the vaginal canal. It can tip forwards, backwards or to the side.

  • Menstrual cups work by forming a seal around the cervix to collect the period blood which is why getting to know your cervix might inform what period cup works best for you.

You can buy a cup without knowing the height of your cervix but knowing will help get a better fit. You can ask your healthcare practitioner or gynecologist at your next smear, pap or examination or get to know for yourself:

Getting to know your cervix:

  • Wash your hands (your vagina is self cleaning, your fingers are not)

  • Squat, sit or put a leg up on the bath and put your fingers inside your vagina

  • Don’t expect to understand what you’re feeling straight away. This is a skill that comes from practice and patience

  • You can measure the height of your cervix, based on the depth your finger goes in before reaching it

Things to consider:

  • After your period has finished through to ovulation, the hormone oestrogen softens the cervical tissue, making it feel softer (or less firm) when you're most fertile. Some say it feels like the softness of your lip. The cervix naturally sits higher up during this part of your cycle and slightly more open just before ovulation. The opening is tiny—no more than a thin slit.

  • The cervical opening (the OS) will open again just before and during menstruation. However, just before and during your period, the cervix will sit lower and feel firmer, more like the top of your nose.

  • If you have a tilt to your cervix, you may not be able to feel the little opening (OS) as it won’t sit directly in the middle of the vaginal canal.

  • If you have an IUD you may be able to feel the strings.
