LUMINESCENCE

Lughnasadh Festival

fire : feasting : folklore

Sunday 30th July 11am - 4pm

In our lifetime there has never been more need for connection, community and to return to the wild, spiral rhythms and innate power and wisdom of the natural world. This is the medicine we need for personal and planetary wellbeing

The Celtic Wheel of the Year provides us with a framework of ancestral wisdom, ritual and tradition so that can we may come home to ourselves and our belonging to the land beneath our feet.

As the wheel of the year slowly turns in the late summer months, we find ourselves arriving at the 4th and final of the Celtic Festival dates; Lughnasadh, the midway point between Summer Solstice and the Autumnal Equinox.

Lughnasagh brings a flow of vital energy. It’s marks the time to open yourself up to the bold summer sun, burn off the anxiety and allow the inner fruits you’ve been cultivating to ripen. More than anything it is a time of playfulness and cultivating joy, reminding you to pause and enjoy this wild and precious life. This allows you to recalibrate and refuel for the months ahead as the year slowly begins to fade, that you might keep something beautiful in your heart before we return to the dark.

This festival day will allow us to do just that. To gather in kindred community, just like our ancestors did and ignite gratitude within our hearts with a day of fun and festivities, ceremony, ritual and celebration.

What’s included:

Fire: Large community fire

  • Intention setting, journalling + fire ceremony and water ritual

  • Feast: seasonal drinks and treats including a delicious harvest inspired lunch of corn chowder drizzled in chilli oil and served with local artisan cheese and award winning sourdough. A very special (i’d go as far to say enchanting) hot apple pie with fresh cream for dessert.

  • Folk Lore + story telling: Enjoy a tale or two by the fire and learn the ancient wisdom of the land and your ancestors. Learn the mythology of Lughnasagh named after the ancient Celtic Sun God Lugh Lámhfhada and the goddess  Macha, the fierce sovereignty associated with the North of Ireland.

  • Optional Movement and breathwork

  • Meditation and Live Music

  • All set in beautiful wild meadows, surrounded by ancient trees

This Celtic Wheel of the Year Lughnasagh event is held at my beautiful Georgian farmhouse nestled in 2.5 acres of ancient trees and wild meadows, in the rolling hills of Co Down.

I am located on a small townland just outside of Belfast called Cargacreevy which translate from old Irish ‘Carraig na craoibhe’ as ‘Rock of the great tree’. Trees were sacred to the ancient ancestors and central to Celtic mythology and spirituality, and rocks were often gathering places for worship, which makes this old townland quite special.

In terms of you finding me, I am near Boardmills/Temple.

I’m only 20 minutes from Belfast city centre, 12 minutes from Carryduff, 10 minutes from both Saintfield and Ballynahinch centre and a short 8 minute scoot from the Lisburn M1 junction (Saintfield road roundabout). The full address will be sent out automatically on booking.

So you get all the peace, beauty and nourishment of being immersed in nature, but without too much of a commute.

Please note I am not on a public transport route, the nearest bus stop is a 2 mile walk but please do contact me as car shares might be possible.
